This article will demonstrate how to download and install Echo 360 personal capture (PCAP).

Echo360 personal capture allows you to record narrated presentations, lectures and tutorials to supplement your teaching. It’s a desktop application that can easily be installed on work or personal computer. PCAP is available to download on both MAC and PC workstations.

To download and install PCAP on your computer you must have an Echo 360 account. Please contact the Learning Enhancement and Support team if you need guidance on how to create an account.

Introducing Echo360 Universal Capture, the easiest way to create any kind of video on Mac, PC, or web. Echo360 is the only video platform for education with Universal Capture, a simple and intuitive capture interface for all your video recording and streaming needs.

Downloading Echo360 personal capture

1. To download Echo360 personal capture, click the following link: https://login.echo360.org.uk/
2. Enter your HYMS email address and click submit.
3. Log in with your HYMS username and password.

4. Click the Settings icon on the top right-hand corner of the homepage. From the drop-down menu select Downloads.

5. From the Downloads page, you have the option to install it on a Mac or Windows PC. Click the relevant download option.

Installing Echo 360 personal capture

1. Run the install application – this should open the personal capture setup wizard.
2. Click Next to start the install process.
3. Agree to the license agreement and click Next.
4. Choose where you wish to install the application. Under normal circumstances the default should be fine. Click Next to continue.
5. Click Next to complete the process.
6. Once installed, you have the option to add a shortcut to your Desktop. Click Finish to close the setup wizard.

Universal Capture: Personal is a stand-alone application designed to be used by Instructors on their personal computers to generate video recordings outside of the classroom environment. This section provides information and links to Echo360's instructions for configuring and using Universal Capture software.

Note: Echo360 Universal Capture has replaced the older Echo360 Personal Capture software. Echo360 no longer supports the use of Personal Capture sofyware. If you have Personal Capture software installed on your computer, you should uninstall it and install Echo360 Universal Capture.

Download the Universal Capture Software

To download the Echo360 Universal Capture software you need to navigate to echo360.umass.edu and log in to your Echo360 account. On the Echo360 Home page select Settings (the gear icon) and choose Download, then select the version of the software for your computer (Mac or Windows). Logging in to Universal Capture

Universal Capture users can log in to make recordings with Echo360 Universal Capture: Personal. When you run the Echo360 Universal Capture: Personal software, you will be asked to log in. Once you click Log in, you will be directed to the UMass authenticator and asked to enter your UMass Amherst NetID and Password.

After you have logged in, you will be able to begin making recordings on your machine.

Use Universal Capture

The Echo360 Universal Capture software interface is designed to be intuitive and user friendly. Once you make a recording with Echo360 Universal Capture, it will upload to the Echo360 system. You can specify whether a recording is published immediately to a course for students to access, or if it is unpublished so you can review and/or edit it before making it available.
